The Japanese produced Philippine postage stamps from 1942 to 1945 whilst occupying the Philippine Islands. Most of the stamps from 1942 were simply overprinted with thick black bars to remove any reference to the Unites States of America. PH N8 reads “Congratulations. Fall of Bataan and Corregidor. 1942”, highlighting Japans success in taking control of the Philippines. PH N9 was overprinted with Japanese characters that essentially translate to “1st Anniversary Greater East Asia War. Dec. 8, 1942”.
